Abstract:This study aimed at detecting and identifying Acinetobacter baumannii (CrAB) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (CrKP) carbapenemase-producers from hospital samples in a General Hospitals, at Abeokuta, Ogun State. The samples were collected, inoculated, identified, and analyzed using standard methods. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. All the isolated organisms showed varying degree of resistance to antibiotics tested and are carbapenemase-producing CrAB and CrKP. The distribution of CrAB, CrKP was high among patients in the study location. The study concluded that there is high prevalence of CrAB and CrKP in the study area, it is important that there is continued monitoring of antibiotics resistance patterns in medical settings to prevent the emergence and outbreak of multiple drug-resistant strains.
