Breaking barriers: Leveraging STEM Education for Gender Equality and Sustainable Development in Nigeria.

Abstract:Nigeria, one of the most populous countries in Africa, faces significant challenges in achieving sustainable development goals, including gender equality and women's empowerment. The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields have been identified as crucial for economic growth and development, yet females are underrepresented in these fields. This study is a conceptual study which explores the intersection of STEM education, gender, and sustainable development in Nigeria by examining the factors affecting women's participation in STEM and the implications for sustainable development. The research highlights the importance of addressing these barriers by implementing policies and programs that promote gender-sensitive STEM education.
