Abstract:This study assessed visitors’ experience and satisfaction with water-based recreation activities in La Campagne Tropicana, a private beach resort in Ikegun, Ibeju-lekki LGA, Lagos State, Nigeria. Using convenience sampling, 205 respondents were surveyed using a structured questionnaire. Data obtained were analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test and PPMC at α0.05. The result showed that most respondents were female (52%), Nigerian (78.5%), had tertiary education (58.8%) and visited the resort for leisure purpose (58%). The recreational activities offered at the resort include boating, kayaking, jet skiing, swimming, water volleyball, canoeing and floating.. Fifty-two percent (52.0%) respondents had a good overall experience at the resort. “Green areas” ranked 1st at a mean score of 6.33 while “Health benefit awareness” at a mean score of 5.45 ranked last among the features that affected visitors experience at the resort. The highest ranked activity was swimming at a mean score of 4.00. There existed a strong positive correlation between experience and satisfaction (r = 0.15). The study concluded that having a good experience at a destination, brings about high satisfaction.
